It’s been a long, dry summer here in Texas. Temperatures have been soaring and there has not been a rain cloud in sight for weeks! While we wait patiently (kind of) for the cooler weather to come, we also pray Mother Nature will bless us with some rain!
As I watered my plants this morning, I was reminded how beneficial rain really is:
It replenishes – here in Texas, the ground is parched and desperate for relief! How often has that been us? Life draws out all our hope and energy until we are left spiritually depleted. The rain fills those cracks and crevices and restores the dry places.
It cleans – months of pollen, dust, and heat have left a sticky film over everything around us. We can build a film as well that slowly changes the way we interact with others and blurs our point of view. The rain helps wash away the grime and makes our perspective clear again.
It nourishes – once the land has taken a long drink of water, we begin to see growth. Everything around us seems brighter, greener, healthier – just like us! When we are dehydrated, our bodies begin to fail. We need constant filling to function properly. The rain provides the essential water we need to survive.
While rain may come and go, we can always rely on the Living Water of God! Diving deep into the Word replenishes our dry spirits, cleans our sinful nature, and nourishes us so we can grow deeper for God’s glory. We don’t need to rely on a weather forecast; we have full access to an unlimited dose of God every day! Friends let’s drink deep in the Living Water and receive the refreshing only God can provide!
Be blessed!
Jennifer
