This Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day, but I’m curious… what words comes to mind for you when you think of the word Father?
For some, a warm rush of words like comfort, shelter, and protection come to mind. Maybe you think of words like guidance, direction, and leader. Still, others think of words like absence, anger, hurt, or doubt. Our unique relationship (or lack of one) with our earthly father will determine which words come to mind.
This is my first year without my earthly father on Father’s Day. While I reflect on the time he was here, I lean more into the reality that my Heavenly Father is still very present. Our time on earth is fleeting and not one of us can choose our number of days we will naturally live, but Father God is eternal. He will never leave or forsake us, which proves His presence never wains and His love never fails! Even in the quiet, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I hope the word father evokes sweet memories and emotions for you. But if it doesn’t, please know Father God is waiting with open arms to love you well and mend the broken pieces of your heart. Our fathers were always intended to train us up, provide for our needs, love us well, and cheer us on. Our Heavenly Father provides direction daily, meets and exceeds our needs, gave His son to spend eternity with us, and claims every victory for our good. When we think of our Heavenly Father, there is one word above all others – LOVE!!
Be blessed!
Jennifer
