Imagine you are in a crowded room holding a cup of coffee when someone bumps into you, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
You may answer – “Because someone bumped into me!”
True, but that’s not the answer we’re looking for. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in your cup, you would have spilled your tea. Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
Life events are going to shake you up and may even throw you off of your axis completely. Whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to pretend you are calm and collected until you get rattled.
So, we need to ask ourselves, “what’s in my cup?” When life gets tough, what spills out? Is it joy, gratitude, peace, and humility? Or anger, bitterness, blame, or a quitting tendency?
God provides the cup; but we choose how we fill it. Today, let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, grace, positivity, kindness, gentleness, and love for others.
Be blessed!
Jennifer
