Have you ever taken a step of faith? What did that look like for you? Did your step of faith involve moving forward with your plans trusting that God would make them succeed? Or were you led to try something completely new and different, not knowing how it may turn out?
I took a huge step of faith recently. I pursued what seemed like an impossible task with a ridiculous time constraint simply because I trusted God told me to do it. So I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped in. There was no safety net or Plan B, I could only trust God to do what He said He would.
That’s the thing about faith – it doesn’t mean believing WE can do it; it’s believing GOD will do it through us! Often, we say we feel ‘led’ to pursue something we really wanted to do in the first place hoping God will bless the endeavor. But taking a step of faith often also includes being nudged to do the things we don’t want to do. The hard stuff. The stuff that will cost us something. Perhaps that’s where we misunderstand the idea of stepping out in faith. Faith has never been about our level of confidence in ourselves. Faith must reflect our reliance on the ONE who is able to do it.
If faith is defined as placing full confidence in something/someone, then stepping out in faith requires us to be vulnerable and dependent. It means putting God’s plan before our own, no matter how it turns out. It will require more than we’re able to do on our own. It’s invigorating, terrifying, and a complete reminder that we are chosen and loved by the Creator of the universe. He chooses to use us in His plans for our good and His glory… we need only trust Him.
Are you feeling a calling to step out in faith? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and jump in! Trust me, you will never feel more alive!
Be blessed!
Jennifer
