A professor in college once began his lecture by saying, “Ladies and gentleman, life is in session.” That sounds like an important statement but what does it mean?
Teachable moments
Like students in a classroom, we have the opportunity to learn something new almost every day. Either by personal experience or by watching others, we learn how to live like Jesus in our fallen world. We see examples of personal sacrifice, encouragement, and Christian character. We can also see pride, pain, and the long-term effects of personal hurts. Sometimes the lesson we learn is what NOT to do!
We’re all in it together
We are designed to be in relationship with others. Remember being involved in school? Groups like band, sports teams, and clubs allowed us to make memories, celebrate victories, and push through disappointments. Do you have a few friends now that you enjoy spending time with? Do you know personal things about each other? They are your support system and make life better when you’re together. If you don’t have a few friends you can share with, why not? Too busy to nurture friendships? Don’t have the time? The blessing of trusted friends is worth the small investment of time!
Graduation day
Ever heard the saying, “Live your life so that your pastor doesn’t have to lie at your funeral.”? We can Iive a life of excellence! That doesn’t mean we’re expected to be excellent at everything we do, it means we can come before God on our final day with empty hands knowing that we used everything He had given us. Our ‘graduation day’ can be celebrated by the friends and family whose lives we’ve touched for God’s glory.
So, my friends, life is in session. How are you showing up for it?
Be blessed!
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21
