Have you ever made a mistake that turned out to be good in the end? I am in a Discipleship Group that reads Scripture each day, journals about a verse that stands out to us, and shares those insights with each other once a week. This week, we are in the book of Mark. However, due to user error, I read passages and made notes from the book of Matthew!
After being teased mercilessly (just kidding) by my group, I began to notice something interesting. As each member shared their insight from Mark, the notes I had from Matthew seemed to relate. The stories and the take aways from each passage were different, yet the notes I had from my reading for the week continuously supported, encouraged, or provided insight to their notes. Amazing! Who does that but God??
This kind of phenomena happens in our lives all the time if we are looking for them. God uses each of us in surprisingly unexpected ways if we let Him. I could have just closed my journal, sat back and listened to all that the ladies shared last night. But I would have missed God using a happy accident for our good and His glory!
Are you feeling a little frustrated lately that things aren’t going as planned? Are you disappointed in mistakes you have made along the way? Pray God will give you a new perspective! When we have a teachable heart, God will reward our intent with fresh insight and learning. We just need to allow Him to!
We all make mistakes and continue to fall short of the glory of God. But we serve a loving, powerful God who can turn our mess into a message, make our tests become our testimony, and can make a setback become our come back! There is NOTHING He can’t do!! So the next time you make a mistake, ask God to show you how it can be made into a happy accident.
Be blessed,
Jennifer
