This is a blog post I wrote several years ago but God brought it to me again today and I just have to share it – God is so good!
I saw the Mighty Orchestrator at work first-hand last night. I’ve seen Him in the details of things before, but this left me speechless.
I was invited to come from out of state to speak to a group of very sweet ladies on a busy Wednesday night. The building was filling up as the ladies arrived and everyone was visiting and finding their seats. Moments before we were scheduled to begin, a woman came in looking somewhat surprised.
“I’m here to drop off something to one of the men who work here.” she explained. “Am I interrupting something?” I happened to be the one standing closest to her, so I explained we were having a ladies’ fellowship night and invited her to stay.
None of this seemed unusual to me at the time. She accepted the offer, made a plate of snacks and within moments we began the program. Everything flowed smoothly. I said what I felt God led me to say, and before I knew it, our evening was drawing to a close.
I made a point to find the woman in the crowd to ask if she had enjoyed the event. She was emotionally beside herself. When I asked if she was okay, she began to share a bit of her story. Years prior, she had worked in that very building. It wasn’t a church at the time, and the memories were painful and taunting. She pointed out areas of the building, explained what they used to be used for and how she had suffered great persecution there. Humiliation, mockery, judgement… all because she was a woman of faith.
“I didn’t even want to have to come here today.” she explained, “The memory of this place is so painful. But God showed up and has been restoring me through this event tonight.”
I was speechless.
“He brought me to the place of a deep hurt and used your words to heal my wounds. I don’t think I would have accepted the message if I hadn’t been sitting right where it all happened.”
Who does that but God?
We were all there for different reasons. A word of encouragement. A reminder to stay focused. A few hours of “me time”. But little did we know, God had orchestrated an event to minister to this sweet woman’s heart. Being a God of the details, He knew exactly where and when she would allow Him to whisper into her heart. He healed her brokenness and encouraged her to pursue Him with abandon.
I don’t know how this ministers to you today but I, for one, needed the fresh perspective. God is in the details of our lives! He has a grand design that stretches into the corners of the globe and yet still determines how we spend a Wednesday night. How amazing is that?!?
Are you allowing God to work out His grand design in your life? Do you recognize His craftsmanship? Or do you chalk things up to coincidence or even chance? Believer, He is busy in the details of your life! If He will gather a group of women and bring a speaker from Texas to Wisconsin just to draw an unexpecting daughter closer to Him, what will He do in your life? What is He doing that you may not see? Together, let’s pray that God open our eyes to His grand design.
Be blessed,
Jennifer
